RUSTON – Louisiana Tech offensive lineman Landon Nelson was named the Conference USA Offensive Lineman of the Week as the organization released the honors Monday afternoon.
Nelson made his seventh start of the season at center and helped the Bulldogs rush for 425 yards, the third most in school history (most since 1991), and six touchdowns on the ground (most since 2015) in Tech's 55-14 win over Sam Houston.
The Bulldogs had two running backs rush for over 100 yards, marking the first time since Nov. 18, 2017, versus UTEP that two Bulldogs eclipsed 100 yards on the ground in the same game.
Nelson received a 93% grade in the contest.
Tech's 55 points were the most points scored by the Bulldogs since Sept. 26, 2020. The Bulldogs posted 646 total yards, the third most ever by the LA Tech in a CUSA game and the most since 2019.
Friday's game against Sam Houston marked Nelson's 28th game as a Bulldog and his 17th start at center. He has been with the program since 2022, after transferring in from Iowa Western, where he spent two seasons (2020-21).
