RUSTON – Louisiana Tech head softball coach
Josh Taylor announced the signing of three players that will join the Bulldogs for the 2025-26 season. Joining the Bulldogs will be Avery Jefferson (Denton, Texas/ Longwood University), Raegan Henderson (Stonewall, La./North Desoto HS), and Carolina Eidson (Moss Bluff, La./Sam Houston HS).
Avery Jefferson | INF
Jefferson comes to LA Tech after spending the 2025 season at Longwood University in Farmville, Va. The redshirt freshman played in 33 games with 25 starts in her lone season as a Lancer. She batted .309 with 25 hits, 12 runs, six RBI and five doubles. She logged seven multi-hit games including three three-hit performances.
"We are excited to welcome Avery to the LA Tech softball family," stated Taylor. "We believe she will be a strong addition to our program and look forward to getting started."
The Texas native spent her freshman season at Abilene Christian, where she did not see game action due to injury.
"Coach Taylor welcomed me with open arms!" relayed Jefferson. "Having a school with such an amazing reputation academically and athletically made me so excited to become a Bulldog!!!"
Jefferson was a four-year standout on the infield at Guyer High School in Denton, Texas from 2020-23. The three-year team captain earned a multitude of honors including First Team All-Area, First Team All-District, All-Metroplex First Team, DFW Senior Player of the Year and 5-6A MVP. She holds the Guyer school records for home runs and RBIs. She batted .504 as a senior with six homers and 58 RBI. Jefferson helped Guyer and two travel-ball teams – American Freedom National and Texas Glory Naudin – to championships. She was a top 25 corner infielder and ranked as the No. 71 player in the class of 2023.
Raegan Henderson | INF
Henderson, a local product from North DeSoto High School in Stonewall, La., will make the short trip to Ruston after leading the Lady Griffin softball team to three state titles in her four seasons. The four-year starter at short stop finished her senior year with a .441 average, 45 hits, 56 runs, 35 RBI, 11 home runs, and 25 walks. She collected 24 extra base hits and swiped eight bags.

For her career, Henderson batted .415 with 176 hits, 176 RBI, 196 runs, 58 home runs, 40 doubles, three triples and 40 stolen bases. She had an OPS of 1.447 and an OBP of .508.
In addition to winning three state titles, Henderson was a four time First-Team All-District selection, a two-time First-Team All-Area performer, a two-time LSWA All-State honoree, and a one-time LSCA All-State selection. She also was named to the LSWA All-State Honorable Mention Team twice and was named to the All-Academic team. Henderson was the 2025 Griffins Overall MVP. She played club ball for the Epic National 18u Smith Team and recently was named to the CLF-Triple Crown 18u All-Tournament Team
Carolina Eidson | INF
Eidson comes to LA Tech after four years at Sam Houston High School in Moss Bluff, La. The in-state product led Sam Houston to a State Championship title this past season, as she batted .507 with 42 RBI, 14 home runs and 19 stolen bases. Eidson posted a .570 OBP and a .981 slugging percentage. The infielder earned LWSA and LSCA 5A All-State honors, while also making the LSCA All-Star Team.

She was named a First-Team All-District performer while also making the All-Area softball team. In addition to her on field success, Eidson was eared Academic All-State honors.
"God closed one door, but opened another through Louisiana Tech," stated Eidson. "I'm grateful for a coach who believes in redemption and potential."
The Moss Bluff native earned First-Team All-District honors as a freshman and sophomore and earned Second Team All-District honors as a junior. Eidson was selected to the All-State team as a sophomore and made the All-Southwest Team twice. She played club ball for United Fastpitch-Alberts for three years.
