RUSTON – Louisiana Tech Athletics announced Louisiana Tech Hall of Famer and former NFL quarterback Luke McCown will serve as the color analyst for the two confirmed ESPN+ broadcasts for Bulldog football this fall.
McCown will join play-by-play voice Malcolm Butler in the booth for LA Tech's first two home games of the 2025 season on ESPN+: Aug. 30 vs. Southeastern and Sept. 13 vs. New Mexico State — both set for 6:30 p.m. CT kickoffs on Origin Bank Field at Joe Aillet Stadium.
A 2017 inductee into the Louisiana Tech Athletics Hall of Fame, McCown came to Ruston as the No. 2 high school quarterback recruit in the country out of Jacksonville, Texas, before starring for the Bulldogs from 2000 to 2003, where he ended his collegiate career as one of the top quarterbacks in both school and NCAA history.
McCown remains the program's all-time leader in pass attempts (1,827), completions (1,088), and passing yards (12,994), and ranks second in touchdown passes (88), trailing only Tim Rattay. Following his time in Ruston, he was selected in the fourth round of the 2004 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, launching a 14-year professional career.
"What an awesome and exciting opportunity to get in the ESPN+ booth for a few games this season for my alma mater," McCown said. "Football has always been so much more than just the game I played for about 22 years. It's what I enjoy talking about, being around, watching, and coaching, and I get the opportunity to call some games for my school alongside my good friend Malcolm Butler. I couldn't be more excited!"
Previously, McCown spent two years (2021-22) on the airwaves as the sideline reporter with the LA Tech Sports Network.
Bulldog Football is set for a six-game home slate for the 2025 season, with season ticket packages on sale now. Fans are encouraged to visit LATechSports.com/Tickets or call (318) 257-3631 to purchase.
