Bulldogs Fall In Non-Conference Finale

Louisiana Tech matched the Huskies with six shots on target.

RUSTON – The Bulldogs closed out the non-conference slate of the 2025 season Sunday afternoon, dropping the contest, 2-0, to the Houston Christian Huskies at Robert Mack Caruthers Field.

LA Tech posted double-digit shots for the second consecutive fixture after taking 10 attempts with six on target. Freshman Reagan Roberts took a match-high four shots with one on frame while Ashley Leonhart put both of her attempts on goal.

The 'Dogs played the Huskies close throughout the first half as the contest was scoreless through the first 45 minutes. HCU outshot Tech 7-4 in the first half with both sides matching shots on target at two each.

The Huskies netted their first score 13 minutes into the second half when a HCU forward dribbled from the left side into the middle of the attacking third before dishing off to a running teammate on the right side of the box, who put the ball in the top left corner of the net.

Houston Christian added their brace in the 73rd minute when a player dribbled down the back line before passing into the box to a Husky forward who put a grounder in the lower left corner of the goal. Following Sunday's scoreless performance, the Bulldogs have now tied the second-longest streak in program history with seven-straight matches without scoring.

Louisiana Tech now turns its attention to Conference USA play when they open up with UTEP on Friday, September 19 at The Mack. First touch is set for 7 p.m. CT.

Head Coach Steve Voltz following Sunday's contest:
"Today was tough because I thought, overall, it was not our best for as far as the rest of the season is concerned. The last couple of games we've been playing well and just didn't finish our opportunities; today we just didn't create enough opportunities on the front end. Shots were pretty similar for both teams, but at the end of the day we have to do a better job creating, and I think our youth and lack of fitness today showed a little bit as well."
