ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH
Head coach Brooke Stoehr enters her 11th season at the helm of the Lady Techsters, coming off the most successful season in over 15 years. Stoehr commanded the team to a 26-7 record, the most wins in 22 years, as well as a 17-1 conference record. All 17 of those games were in a row and was the longest win streak during conference play by a CUSA team of all time. That win streak extended to 19 during the tournament, making it all the way to the CUSA Finals.
Â
Stoehr was tabbed to the 2027 Kathy Delaney-Smith Mid-Major Coach of the Year Preseason Watch List, presented by Her Hoop Stats for this upcoming season. The reigning CUSA Coach of the Year is one of 20 in the nation to be nominated, one of two Sun Belt coaches.
Â
The Lady Techsters were selected fifth in the Sun Belt Women's Basketball Preseason Poll in their first season, one of the four teams to notch a first-place vote. The gap between second place Troy and fifth place Louisiana Tech was only 18 points, less than the 23 gap between fourth-placed Troy and the league favorite James Madison.
Â
Returners Jordan Marshall and Alexia Weaver were both named to Preseason All-Sun Belt teams. Marshall, a First-Team mention, led the Lady Techsters in rebounding and field goal percentage last season en route to a Second Team All-CUSA shout. The third year forward averaged 10.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, scoring in double-figures 20 times for the Lady Techsters last season.
Â
Weaver, a Third-Team mention, nailed 57 triples at a team leading 38.8 clip. That percentage shot up to 45.6 percent during CUSA play, the second highest mark in the league. The fourth-year guard was a CUSA Honorable Mention in her first year at LA Tech.
Â
Louisiana Tech return seven players (Alexia Weaver, Hillary Dawson, Joy Madison-Key, Jordan Marshall, Isla Airey, Kennedy Evans, Kaleigh Thompson) and lose five from last season. Of those seven players, Weaver, Dawson, Marshall and Airey made starts last season.
Â
ABOUT TOLEDO
The Rockets are led by Ginny Boggess in her third season with the program, making the MAC Tournament championship game in her first two seasons. Toledo went 17-15 last season, but faced several injuries, including leading rebounder Fath Fedd-Robinson, after falling to first seeded Miami (OH) in the championship.
Â
Toledo was picked fourth in the Preseason MAC Coaches Poll, receiving two first place votes. In that voting, the Rockets trail first place Ball State by only 13 points and three first place votes.
Â
A trio of Rockets were tabbed with Preseason All-MAC Teams, the most of any in the conference.
Â
Kendall Carruthers earned a First Team shout as a two-time All-MAC honoree. She earned a Third-Team selection after averaging 12.1 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists for Toledo last season. Carruthers tallied 20 double-digit scoring outings and ranked in the top 15 in the league in assists and free throw percentage. In 2024-25, the Toledo native was an honorable mention.
Â
Faith Fedd-Robinson and Jyah LoVett were both tabbed on the Second Team. Fedd-Robinson averaged 11.7 ppg and 7.0 rpg before falling late in the season due to injury. LoVett is an Arizona State transfer, making the NCAA Tournament last season. She averaged 4.9 points and 1.7 rebounds for the Sun Devils.
