RUSTON, La. – Louisiana Tech head coach Matt Lodge has announced the hiring of his new assistant, Greg Palmer, ahead of the upcoming 2026 season.
Palmer has an accomplished soccer background with a wealth of experience across coaching, club development, and performance management. He most recently served as the assistant coach at Stetson University and previously led the USL 2 team Shreveport Rafters.
He held the position of Executive Director at both The Soccer Consultancy and Shreveport Football Club; these followed his impactful tenure as the Director of Coaching at Shreveport United.
Transitioning from a successful professional playing career at Millwall Football Club, Palmer has carved out a dynamic path in soccer leadership, coaching, and program development. Arriving to the USA in 2011, Palmer spent 10 years creating curriculums, coaching education programs, policies and coaching manuals to enhance numerous soccer entities.
He has also worked with prominent organizations including FC Dallas, Liverpool International Academy, Millwall FC Academy, Shreveport Rafters FC, Captain Shreve, Aberaman FC, and Centenary College consistently delivering high-quality player development and operational excellence.
Palmer holds a degree in Football Coaching & Performance from the University of South Wales, a postgraduate certificate in Performance Coaching from the University of Stirling and has gained the prestigious UEFA A License.
With hands-on experience managing large-scale soccer operations in both the UK and USA, he has overseen programs involving over 5,000 players and 50 staff members. His leadership has generated over $1 million in funding, developed sustainable playing philosophies and implemented strategic plans for growth and performance.
