RUSTON – Louisiana Tech made quick work of Southern Miss on Saturday, defeating the Golden Eagles 8-0 in five innings to earn a run-rule victory and moving to 11-3 on the season.
 
True freshman Aleah Brooks delivered a bases-clearing, three-RBI double to walk-off Southern Miss in the bottom of the fifth, while freshman Bryannah Campos tossed a complete game one-hitter. Campos allowed just three players to reach base and allowed one walk while striking out a career-high four.
 
Brooks and Rosalie Dufresne led the Bulldogs with three RBI apiece. Brooks also led the team with three hits, including two doubles. Elena Heng and Bradi Gallaway both registered two hits.
 
Reagan Marchant, Allie Furr and Dufresne added one hit each. Marchant and Jina Baffuto drove in one run apiece, while Marchant and Bennett scored two runs each.
 
After a three-up-three down top of the first with a strikeout from Campos, the Bulldogs used four hits to score three runs in the bottom of the first while forcing an early pitching change. Bennet drew a one out walk and advanced to third on a double from Brooks that banged off the wall in left center.
 
Marchant followed with a single through the left side to score Bennet while Brooks advanced to third. After a ground out and a Furr walk, Dufresne drove in two on a single to put Tech up 3-0.
 
Campos retired the side in order in the top of the second and third, while the Bulldogs posted two runs in the bottom of the third to take a 5-0 lead. Marchant drew a one out walk and advanced 60 feet to second on a Gallaway single through the left side. LA Tech loaded the bases with a Furr single and scored Marchant on a Dufresne walk. Baffuto would also draw a bases loaded walk to make it 5-0 Tech.
 
Campos recorded her fourth strikeout of the afternoon to open the fifth before USM recorded its lone hit of the game with a single up the middle. LA Tech loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth as Heng reached on a single, while Baffuto and Bennett both drew walks. Brooks was able to end the game with a bases clearing double to give Tech the 8-0 run-rule win.

"I loved it. I thought we did a good job. 10 hits and seven walks in five innings, that is going to score some runs. You are going to get that result when you do that. I thought for the most part we did a really good job of commanding the zone. I think we struggled at times with timing and rhythm, but ultimately, I thought they did a really good job. [Aleah Brooks] Brooksie, for a true freshman, really showed a lot of discipline there. Her first hit of the game was off the left field wall. She was staying in her approach, and then she finds the three four-hole on a hard-hit ball, and then she finishes it with the double there in the left center gap. She did a great job with her approach today, not getting too big, not getting off time, staying with her swing, and she had a three for four day. It shows right there. I thought we had a number of hitters that did a good job today. I thought Elena Heng was good all day with her approach. I thought that Bradi Gallaway did a good job. She got a little out in front, but she's a gamer, so she finds a way to get hits. On the pitching side of it, Bryannah [Campos] did a great job. I think she shoved…she set the tone early which, is something we talked about her last start that she didn't do, so I'm proud of her for that adjustment. She really set the tone early and was really good with her change up all day long. She was able to extend the zone up a little bit on them and then was able to work both sides of the plate. I think Bryannah was fantastic for us today as well."
