ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH (15-5, 8-1 CUSA)
The Lady Techsters are coming off their fourth 2-0 week in a row, defeating Kennesaw State and Jacksonville State in the Thomas Assembly center, defeating both by at least 20 points. Most recently against the Gamecocks, LA Tech started slow, shooting 0-6 and turning the ball over three times as Jax State took a 7-0 lead. Louisiana Tech would then rip off a 15-0 run to take a help take the lead in the first quarter as well as entering halftime. A conference play best 30 point third quarter pushed the lead further, capped off by a Jianna Morris three pointer as time expired. Louisiana Tech shot 78.6 percent in the frame, the second best mark on the season. While the offense slowed down in the fourth, the lead only trickled under 20 once, ending in a 71-51 LA Tech victory.
 
The bench for Louisiana Tech continued to shine. Joy Madison-Key assisted a season high eight times, tying Paris Bradley against FIU for the most on the season. Madison-Key was +24 on the game, while Kaliegh Thompson was +20 with 11 points and seven rebounds.
 
The Lady Techsters are currently on an eight game win streak, the longest streak under coach Brooke Stoehr. All eight wins came in January, going 8-1 in the month, the best mark since January 2011, going 8-0 that season. Louisiana Tech has won seven of their eight games by double-figures, including two by at least 20.
 
Assisting the basketball has been key for Louisiana Tech. During conference play, the Lady Techsters are assisting on 71 percent of their baskets and lead the league in assists per game at 17.4, increased to 18.7 during league play. LA Tech is 29th in the country in assists per game and have had 20 or more assists eight times this season.
 
Leading the team in assists is Joy Madison-Key with 3.7 a game, the most by a bench player in the league. The Tulane transfer is currently fifth in the league in assists per game, followed by teammates Paris Bradley (3.5) in sixth and Alexia Weaver (3.1) in seventh.
 
ABOUT UTEP (10-10, 2-7 CUSA)
The Miners snapped a seven game losing streak by defeating rival New Mexico State at home in the Battle of I-10. UTEP forced 23 turnovers, the most in league play. 
 
While the Aggies struck first, the Miners responded quickly, taking the lead behind a triple. UTEP carried that lead into the second quarter and reinforced it with an 8-0 run, leading 37-27 into half. The Aggies chipped away in the third, closing the gap to four as they entered the fourth, but UTEP never let the gap get any closer, winning 79-69.
 
UTEP took care of business at the free throw line, going 25-31 at an 80.6 percent clip. The Miners also used turnovers and transition to gain an advantage, scoring 25 points off of turnovers and 23 off of fast breaks. 
 
The Miners are one of the best rebounding teams in the league, averaging a Conference USA leading 41.3 rebounds per game. UTEP also grabs 16.0 offensive rebounds per game, a mark that sits at 18th in the country.
 
UTEP has two players who are top 10 in the league in rebounding, with Mary Moses Amaniyo (8.7) at fourth and Ndack Mbengue (8.1) at ninth. The Miners are the only team to have two players in the top 10 in the category.
 
THE SERIES
Louisiana Tech owns a 19-12 lead in the all-time series history. Since both programs joining Conference USA, the series is split 10-10 with the Lady Techsters sweeping the Miners last season. The last matchup was a 69-51 LA Tech victory, highlighted by Paris Bradley's 24 point performance.
