OXFORD, Miss. –
Bradi Gallaway hit her seventh home run of the season, but Louisiana Tech softball dropped a midweek contest 5-1 to Ole Miss on Wednesday night at the Ole Miss Softball Stadium. The loss moves LA Tech to 17-11 (3-3 Conference USA).
The Bulldogs were outhit just 6-4 by the Rebels, but three Ole Miss home runs proved to be the difference in a game in which all runs were scored on the long ball.
Gracie Flores finished the night with two hits for LA Tech, while Gallaway and
Aleah Brooks finished with one. Gallaway scored the Bulldogs' one run on her fifth inning home run.
Four different arms saw time in the circle for LA Tech as
Bryannah Campos (4-3) started and took the loss. Campos tossed 2.0 innings and allowed two runs on two hits while striking out one.
Laney Johnson pitched 1.0 inning and gave up three runs on three hits.
Ruby Fidge and
Allie Floyd combined to toss three scoreless frames to close the game. Fidge pitched 2.0 innings and allowed one hit, while Floyd allowed no runs or hits in the sixth.
Ole Miss scored all five of its runs across the second and third innings. The Rebels hit a two-run home run in the second, then added a solo shot and a two-run home run in the third to take a 5-0 lead.
The Bulldogs got on the board in the fifth as Gallaway hit her seventh home run of the season on the first pitch she saw to lead off the inning.
Emilee Boyer earned the win in the circle for Ole Miss after pitching a complete game with nine strikeouts.

"Overall, I feel we played pretty good softball tonight. We struck out way too many times and made a few mistakes in the circle and their hitters made us pay. Other than the strikeouts, I did feel that we competed and we will take what we learned into this upcoming series."
