RUSTON – Louisiana Tech softball earned a 6-3 bounce-back win over FIU on Saturday afternoon at Dr. Billy Bundrick Field, highlighted by three home runs one day after recording no extra-base hits. The win improved LA Tech to 22-20 (8-9 Conference USA).

The Bulldogs outhit FIU 11-6, with four hits going for extra bases. Reagan Marchant hit two home runs, while Bradi Gallaway added one. Elena Heng recorded a stand-up triple.

Marchant led the Bulldogs with three RBI, while Gallaway, Allie Furr and Aleah Brooks each drove in one run.

Laney Johnson (6-3) started in the circle and earned the win. The right-hander pitched four innings, allowing three runs on six hits with one walk and one strikeout. Bryannah Campos threw three scoreless innings to earn her second save of the season, allowing one walk with no hits and two strikeouts.

FIU jumped out to a 3-0 after Kennedy Byrd hit a two-run home run in the first inning and a solo blast in the third. LA Tech left 11 runners on base, including the bases loaded in both the first and second innings.

The Bulldogs cut the deficit to 3-2 in the bottom of the third as Gallaway led off with a solo home run, followed by a solo shot from Marchant.

LA Tech took the lead in the fourth after loading the bases. Furr singled to open the inning, followed by a single from Flores and a hit by pitch by Gallaway. Brooks was then hit by a pitch, allowing Flores to score and tie the game. Marchant followed with a groundout that brought home Alannah Rogers, who entered as a pinch runner, giving Tech a 4-3 lead.

The Bulldogs extended the lead to 5-3 in the fifth as Heng tripled to lead off the inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by Furr. Marchant put the final stamp on the game in the sixth with her second sole home run of the day and the 31st of her Bulldog career.

Campos issued a leadoff walk in the fifth and went on to retire next nine batters she faced to secure the save.
