ATLANTA – Louisiana Tech secured its 15th win of the season on Saturday, earning a strong 4-1 road victory over Georgia State at the GSU Clarkston Tennis Complex.
Â
Road tested all year, LA Tech (15-3) set the tone early with decisive playing across all three doubles courts to take the opening point. That was followed by wins on courts one, five, and six in singles as the Bulldogs claimed their 10th victory away from home.
Â
Alice Brook and
Maria Tsironi teamed up to deliver a bagel at the No. 2 spot, taking it 6-0 for the first win of the day. With the other two Bulldog lineups up 5-2, it was the 69th-ranked tandem of
Zoie Epps and
Isabella Walker who delivered a 6-2 victory to put LA Tech up 1-0.
Â
Following a forfeit on court six, the 'Dogs began singles up 2-0, but Georgia State (5-11) sliced that deficit in half, getting its first victory of the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win on court two.
Â
That would be the only match the Panthers won the first set of though as the Bulldogs carried over their momentum by jumping out in front on the remaining four courts.
Â
Epps and
June Vigneron led the charge, each winning their first set 6-0. Both Bulldogs were challenged in the second set, but prevailed. Epps ran her winning streak to 12 matches by outdueling Maria Paredes 7-5 in the second set at No. 1.
Â
Clinching the team match was Vigneron who defeated Mia Petrovic in a second set tiebreaker 7-6 (1) at the No. 5 spot. Teammates
Mio Kozaki and Tsironi were up a set and less than two games away from winning their respective matches when they were stopped.

QUOTABLES
Head coach Amy Sargeant
Â
"This weekend marks our final preparation before the conference championship, and our focus is on stepping into it with confidence in both who we are and how we play. We delivered a strong doubles performance across all courts – simple decisive and disciplined. In singles, Zoie and June set the tone early with fast starts and did a great job closing out their matches. It may not have been our sharpest tennis, but it was exactly what we needed at this stage. We are right where we need to be and will be back at it again tomorrow."
