Series History: LA Tech leads 80-55 (since 1970)
This will be the second time the 'Dogs and Warhawks face each other this year, with ULM taking a 14-3 seven-inning run rule in Ruston on March 31. The midweek loss was part of an eight-game losing streak LA Tech suffered before winning 12 of their next 14 games.
Tech is coming off its third CUSA sweep in the last four home series after taking three games over Missouri State at the Love Shack. After securing the series in a seesaw Saturday contest with a final score of 6-5, the Bulldogs pulled off their largest ninth-inning comeback in nearly 18 years.
Entering the ninth trailing 8-2, the 'Dogs scored seven runs to overcome a deficit of at least six runs in the ninth for the first time since April 28, 2008 against Hawaii. Tech also gave Missouri State its first conference road sweep since April 12-13, 2019 when the Bears were swept at Illinois State as members of the Missouri Valley Conference.
The Warhawks enter the midweek clash coming off a series loss at home to James Madison after evening the series on Saturday with a 6-4 win over the Dukes before dropping the rubber match, 10-2. ULM has not seen consecutive wins since taking the first two weekend games over UL-Lafayette on March 27 and 28, which is also the last time the Warhawks won a weekend series.
Marcus Aranda has been one of head coach Ford Pemberton's top run producers this season, leading ULM with 10 homers and the second-most RBI with 42 behind Jake Haggard's 46. Aranda went on a slugging spree earlier in the season, belting six homers across a seven-game span that began in Ruston with a 2-2 night at the plate along with four RBI and a pair of runs scored.
Davis Mauzy began the season on a 25-game hitting streak that concluded on March 22 against South Alabama and was snapped on March 24 in an in-state matchup against Northwestern State, going 0-4 at the plate against the Demons.
Mauzy's 59 hits leads the Warhawks and are tied for the sixth-most in the Sun Belt. Kade Dupont's team-high .368 average is good for the fifth-best in the SBC, yet leads the league with an on-base percentage of .509. Bryce Blaser is among the conference's leaders with the fourth-most runs at 43 and 38 walks drawn for the second-most in the league.
