Bulldogs drop midweek to ULM

Tech, ULM split season series

MONROE, La. – Louisiana Tech softball jumped out to an early 1-0 lead Wednesday evening at the ULM Softball Complex, but it was short-lived as ULM answered in the bottom of the first and went on to secure a 3-1 victory. The loss moves LA Tech to 21-19 (7-8 Conference USA).

The Bulldogs were outhit 8-6, with all six hits going for singles. Allie Furr led the team with two hits, and she scored Tech's lone run. Reagan Marchant had one hit and one RBI, while Gracie Flores, Aleah Brooks and Raegan Henderson all had one hit each.

Allie Floyd (9-12) started in the circle and took the loss. Floyd allowed two runs on five hits with two strikeouts across two innings. Bryannah Campos tossed one inning and allowed one run on three hits, while Laney Johnson tossed the final frame, recording a clean sheet with one strikeout.

Tech took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Furr and Flores recorded back-to-back one out singles. After a foul out, Marchant drove in Furr from second with a single through the left side.

The lead did not last as ULM scored two runs on three hits to take a 2-1 lead after one. The Warhawks put two on board via a double and a single, while a second double cleared the bases.

ULM extended its lead to 3-1 in the fourth, using a single, a sacrifice bunt to move a runner to third and a bunt single to bring her home.

The Bulldogs loaded the bases with one out in the seventh but were unable to score. Brooks delivered a pinch-hit single, and Karli Sellers reached on a fielding error. Henderson then loaded the bases with an infield single, but a fielder's choice and a strikeout ended the game.

QUOTABLES
Head coach Josh Taylor
Coach Taylor's Postgame Comments.…

"Frustrating night. We pitched well enough to win but could not sustain an offensive approach most of the night. We are going to have to put together complete games down the stretch in conference play in order to go on the late season run we are looking for. We have the talent, but it needs to show up each and every day moving forward.
