RUSTON – Louisiana Tech golfer Abel Derksen was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team, announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The honor recognizes student-athletes who maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher while making significant contributions in their sport.
 
Derksen, a sophomore from the Netherlands, carries a 3.79 GPA in Business Administration. The transfer from Washington participated in 10 events in first season as a Bulldog. He posted a stroke average of 73.96, while totaling 90 birdies and one eagle.
 
He registered nine rounds at or under par which was tied for third on the team. Derksen shot a season-low 67 (-5) in the third round of the Linger Longer Invitational, in which he made seven birdies in the event.
 
Derksen was also named a 2026 CUSA Academic Medalist and was named to the 2026 CUSA Commissioner's Honor Roll. 
 
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's At-Large teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes at-large honorees in five divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, and the College Division.
