Matt Miller

Matt Miller is set to enter his sixth season as associate pitching coach in 2025.

The Bulldog Man (team captain for life) was hired by LA Tech head coach Lane Burroughs in the fall of 2019 following Miller's three-year career on the mound. He took over as the volunteer assistant coach while also running the LA Tech baseball camps and handling operational duties before being promoted to associate pitching coach during the summer of 2023.

In working with pitching coach Cooper Fouts, Miller was named a semifinalist for 11Point7’s Golden Fungo Volunteer Assistant award in 2021, which honors the best volunteer assistant coach in college baseball.

Miller assisted Fouts in coaching seven-time All-American selection Ethan Bates, who received six of his All-American honors in 2024 from Baseball America, D1 Baseball, NCBWA, ABCA, Perfect Game, and the College Baseball Foundation.

During his coaching stint with the Diamond 'Dogs, he has been part of a coaching staff that has developed three All-Americans (Ethan Bates, Ryan Harland, and Jonathan Fincher), three All-Region selections, and six All-Conference USA selections, as well as seeing five arms taken in the MLB Draft (Ryan Jennings, Kyle Crigger, Cade Gibson, Landon Tomkins, and Sam Broderson).

During his playing days, Miller posted a 4.09 ERA over 200.1 innings after transferring from Heartland Community College. He was the primary Friday starter as a redshirt junior and senior, during which time he struck out three batters for every one he walked.

The Aurora, Illinois native earned Second Team All-Conference honors in 2019. Among league leaders, the senior captain Miller ranked sixth in ERA (3.24), fourth in opposing batting average (.224), seventh in innings pitched (83.1), fifth in strikeouts (97), and first in strikeouts looking (38). His 97 punch-outs during the regular season were the most by a Bulldog pitcher since 2007.
