Lou Gudino enters his second season on the Louisiana men's basketball staff after serving the previous two seasons as head coach at Frank Phillips College in Borger, Texas.
Gudino had plenty of success at Frank Phillips College where he inherited a team that had won seven games the season before he took over. In his two seasons as head coach of the Plainsmen, Gudino compiled a record of 42-18.
During the 2004-05 season, the native of Clinton, Ind. guided Frank Phillips College to its first Western Junior College Athletic Conference championship with a record of 26-4 and a No. 16 national ranking which was the highest in school history.
For his efforts, Gudino was named the WJCAC Coach of the Year. Gudino also coached NJCAA All-Americna Jerome Richardson who averaged 20 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game.
Prior to taking over the head coaching slot at Frank Phillips College, Gudino served as an assistant coach at the University of Incarnate Word where he helped that team compile a record of 61-22 from the 2000-01 to the 2002-03 season.
Gudino also served as an assistant coach at Barton County Community College during the 1999-2000 season where he helped that team to a record of 32-2.
His first coaching stint came at Howard Junior College in Big Spring, Texas where he helped the team compile a 43-18 record during the 1997-98 and 1998-99 seasons.
The graduate of South Vermillion High School earned his bachelor of arts in financial management from Indiana University in 1997 and added a master of arts degree in sports management from the University of Incarnate Word in 2003.
