Beginning his third season with the Louisiana Tech staff is assistant coach Steve Forbes.
Forbes' first year was a memorable one as he was very instrumental in the Bulldogs gathering a nationally-ranked recruiting class during the 2000-01 season.
The Bulldogs have posted winning seasons both years Forbes has been with the program, including last season's 22-10 mark. During the 2001-02 season, Forbes joined head coach Keith Richard in guiding the Bulldogs to a postseason bid in the NIT, Tech's first postseason action in 10 years.
His main responsibilities with the team this season will include heading up all aspects of recruiting and on the floor coaching.
Forbes came to Tech after serving two seasons as the associate head coach at the University of Idaho. During his first season at Idaho, he helped the team improve to a 16-11 record and helped recruit a nationally-ranked class.
Prior to Idaho, Forbes coached at Barton County Community College in Great Bend, Kansas where he compiled a record of 68-28 in three years as head coach. During his tenure, his teams produced three All-Americans and defeated 15 nationally-ranked teams.
Before becoming the head coach at BCCC, Forbes was the head coach at Southwestern Community College where he earned a 36-27 record in two years. Forbes left Southwestern after accepting an assistant coaching position at BCCC in 1993. Already in his coaching career, Forbes has had two of his players drafted by the NBA.
Forbes graduated from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Ark. in 1988. While playing baseball for the Muleriders, he earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education. Forbes and his wife Johnetta have two children -- Elizabeth and Christopher.
