Chelsea Krobetzky has played a key role in developing Louisiana Tech’s pitching staff since joining the Bulldogs prior to the 2022 season.
During her five seasons as Tech’s pitching coach, Krobetzky has helped develop a Conference USA Freshman of the Year, multiple All-CUSA pitchers and some of the program’s best pitching performances in more than two decades.
Her impact was immediate in 2022 as the Bulldogs won 39 games and captured the Conference USA regular-season championship.
Under Krobetzky’s direction, Audrey Pickett, Emma Hutchinson and Lauren Menzina combined for a 2.95 team ERA while issuing just one walk every three innings. The Bulldogs also recorded eight shutouts.
Pickett flourished under Krobetzky, earning first-team All-CUSA and first-team Louisiana Sports Writers Association honors. She finished 25-6 with a 2.56 ERA, recording the eighth-most wins in a single season in program history and the most by a Tech pitcher in 23 years.
The Bulldogs were even better in the circle in 2023, posting a 2.38 team ERA, the program’s lowest since 2002. Tech recorded 12 shutouts and seven complete games during the season.
LA Tech also threw 24 consecutive scoreless innings during a three-game sweep of UTSA, marking the first time in program history the Bulldogs shut out an opponent in all three games of a conference series.
Freshman Allie Floyd emerged under Krobetzky’s tutelage, earning CUSA Freshman of the Year honors after posting a 2.57 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 128 innings. Mary Martinez earned CUSA All-Freshman Team honors after finishing 10-3 with a 2.12 ERA.
Krobetzky’s pitching staff posted a 2.91 ERA in 2024 while recording six shutouts and 12 complete games. Alyssa Martin and Floyd combined to throw a no-hitter against Lindenwood.
Floyd and Brook Melnychuk each recorded 13 victories, giving the Bulldogs two double-digit winners in the circle. Floyd earned second-team All-CUSA honors after finishing 13-9 and leading Tech in innings pitched, strikeouts and complete games.
Floyd took another major step forward under Krobetzky in 2025, developing into one of Conference USA’s top pitchers.
The right-hander finished 22-13 with a 2.78 ERA while leading CUSA in wins, strikeouts (182), innings pitched (204.0), appearances (41) and complete games (18). Her 13 conference victories set a LA Tech single-season record, and she became the first Bulldog pitcher since 2011 to record at least 150 strikeouts in a season.
Floyd earned first-team All-CUSA and first-team All-Louisiana honors and was later selected to D1Softball’s Top 100 Mid-Major Players list.
Her 2025 season included a pair of marquee performances against nationally ranked opponents. Floyd threw a complete game in a 6-1 victory over No. 4 Oklahoma State and held No. 17 Auburn to one run on one hit while striking out nine in another complete-game victory.
Floyd entered her senior season in 2026 as the CUSA Preseason Pitcher of the Year and again anchored the Bulldogs’ pitching staff. She led Tech with 146 innings pitched, 106 strikeouts, nine complete games and two shutouts while posting a 3.26 ERA.
Over four seasons working with Krobetzky, Floyd developed from CUSA Freshman of the Year in 2023 to a second-team All-CUSA selection in 2024 and a first-team honoree in 2025 before entering her senior season as the league’s preseason Pitcher of the Year.
Krobetzky’s coaching career followed an accomplished collegiate and international playing career.
A two-year team captain at Arkansas, Krobetzky played four seasons for the Razorbacks from 2009-13 and finished her career ranked among the program’s top 10 in wins, innings pitched, games started, appearances, complete games, shutouts and strikeouts.
She earned a victory over No. 1 California during the 2012 NCAA Regional and struck out a career-high 13 against Saint Louis. Krobetzky also combined with Hope McLemore to throw a no-hitter against Kentucky in 2013.
Following her collegiate career, Krobetzky played and coached internationally in Argentina, Austria, Australia, Italy, South Africa and Switzerland. Her international career included championships in Austria and South Africa, European Cup appearances in the Czech Republic and Netherlands, and MVP honors in multiple countries.
Krobetzky also served as a volunteer assistant at Nevada in 2014-15 and at Reed High School in 2014.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in human environmental sciences from Arkansas in 2013 and was selected by the coaching staff to participate in the Razorback Leadership Academy.
Krobetzky and her husband, Tyler, have two children, son Darby and daughter Abriel Ruth.
