Alexia Romero, a decorated graduate of Louisiana Tech women’s tennis program, has been appointed as assistant coach with the Bulldogs for the 2026 season.
Born in Neuquén, Argentina, Romero distinguished herself both on and off the court during her five-year tenure (2020-24) at LA Tech, culminating in a standout collegiate career that ranks among the most accomplished in program history.
She consistently delivered high-level performances throughout her Bulldog career, becoming the only member of the 70-70 club, compiling 70-plus victories in singles and doubles play.
During her final season in 2023-24, Romero registered a 16-3 dual singles record and 33 completed sets won. Her 84.2% singles winning percentage ranked among the best in school history, and her 54 career dual singles wins stand as the second-most in program history.
Romero also tallied a 13-7 dual doubles mark that year, finishing the season strong with four consecutive victories over ULM, Kansas State, Wichita State, and WKU. She finished up with 53 career dual doubles wins, which also ranks as the second-most in program history.
Her impressive performances earned Romero multiple postseason accolades, including Second Team All-Conference USA honors twice in doubles and once in singles, along with as CUSA All-Freshman Team recognition in 2020. She also garnered several academic honors, including five appearances on the CUSA Commissioner’s Honor Roll (2020–2024) and being named a 2020 CUSA Academic Medalist.
Prior to her collegiate career, Romero came to Louisiana Tech as one of Argentina’s top junior prospects — ranked No. 1 nationally at U14 and U16 levels and a competitor with the Argentine national team.
