Cami Hicks

Louisiana Tech volleyball head coach Scott Mattera announced the addition of Cami Hicks as an assistant coach on March 26, 2025.

Hicks completed her first season on the Bulldog staff in 2025, helping guide Louisiana Tech through a year of growth and transition as the program posted a 9-21 overall record while improving its RPI by 28 spots from the previous season.

The Bulldogs saw key strides on their home court, finishing 2-1 at the Bulldog Bash with wins over Jackson State and ULM. One of the signature victories of the season came in a 3-0 sweep of New Mexico State inside historic Scotty Robertson Memorial Gymnasium, marking LA Tech’s first matchup in the facility since 2013 and snapping a 23-match losing streak to the Aggies. The Bulldogs turned in their most efficient offensive performance of the season in the match, hitting .376 as a team.

LA Tech also earned a dramatic five-set win over Jacksonville State, closing the fifth set on a 15-5 run to secure the victory over the Gamecocks.

Hicks joined the Bulldogs following a standout playing career at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where she spent five seasons as a middle blocker and earned All-Sun Belt and All-Louisiana honors twice.

A native of Carthage, Texas, Hicks was one of the top defensive players in the Sun Belt, leading the conference in blocks per set (1.4) in a season while finishing tied for the league lead in total blocks (135) during the regular season. She ranked among the top 25 nationally in both blocks per set and total blocks, recording five or more blocks in 17 of 25 matches.

Her 135-block season marked the third consecutive year with 100-plus blocks to close her collegiate career. She set the ULL rally-scoring era single-season blocks record, became the program’s career blocks leader in the rally-scoring era, and finished in the Sun Belt Conference’s all-time top 10 in career blocks with 487.

Prior to entering the collegiate coaching ranks, Hicks also gained experience coaching club volleyball with Cajun Elite in Lafayette.
