Kevin Albarez enters his second year as Associate Director of Strategic Communications at Louisiana Tech University.
Albarez is the primary contact for volleyball, women's basketball, bowling, cross country, and outdoor track and field.
Before coming to LA Tech, he spent the past three years as Assistant Sports Information Director at Southern University. During his time at Southern, Albarez was the primary contact for volleyball, bowling, and softball. He was the secondary contact for men's and women's cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field.
Albarez joined the staff at Southern after spending the previous 10 years as a coach and teacher at Woodlawn High School in Baton Rouge, La. At Woodlawn, Albarez coached men's basketball, football, softball, and baseball. He also taught geometry and sports marketing. He was also responsible for maintaining the facilities, creating gameday graphics, video coordinations, and producing live streams of all sporting events.
Getting his start at LSU, Albarez spent nine years on the stat crew. He started his time by interning in the Sports Information Department during the 2011-12 season. During this time, he was responsible for assisting in the coverage of football, men's and women's basketball, baseball, and softball, where all those teams made it to postseason play, including football to the National Championship game and softball to the Women's College World Series.
A native of Baton Rouge, La., Albarez earned his bachelor's degree in Sports Administration from LSU in 2011 and his Master of Art in Teaching in 2013.
