RUSTON, La. - The National Football Foundation (NFF) announced on Tuesday that former Louisiana Tech football head coach William "Lone Star" Dietz was one of the members of the College Football Hall of Fame 2012 Divisional Class.

The Divisional College Football Hall of Fame considers players and coaches from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, Divisions II, III and the NAIA for induction. This year's class will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame during the Enshrinement Festival, July 20-21, in South Bend, Ind.

Dietz coached the Bulldogs for two years (1922-23) during his 19-year head coaching career. During that time he led Tech to an 11-3-1 record that included a 100-0 drubbing of Clark College in 1922 and a 66-7 victory over Northwestern State in 1923.

For his career, Dietz was 96-62-7 while serving as head coach at seven institutions that included a Rose Bowl victory with Washington State in 1915. He also enjoyed a distinguished career as an assistant coach, helping College Football Hall of Fame coach Pop Warner prepare Stanford for two Rose Bowl appearances.

Other inductees of the 2012 Class include wide receiver Chris Bisaillon (Illinois Wesleyan), running back Jim Holder (Oklahoma Panhandle State), tight end Richard McGeorge (Elon), offensive and defensive lineman Rex Mirich (Northern Arizona) and coaches Gene Carpenter (Adams State [Colo.] and Millersville [Pa.]) and Ron Harms (Concordia [Neb.], Adams State [Colo.] and Texas A&M-Kingsville)
