Louisiana Tech Coach Leon Barmore has led the Lady Techsters to 18 straight NCAA Tournament appearances, 9 Final Fours, five national championship games and one national title. Each summer over 1,000 young basketballers converge on the campus of Louisiana Tech to participate in the best teaching camp in the country and learn more about the game of basketball and the game of life.
A message from Coach Barmore
"Young lady, if you are looking for the best basketball camp to attend, you should come see us at Louisiana Tech University this summer. Last summer 1,300 girls came to Ruston, La., to learn more about this great game of basketball and have a lot of fun. What better place to learn the game of basketball than from a Tech program that has won three NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS and participated in 13 Final Fours. We make a commitment to each camper to make it the best week possible. Come join us. It will be a memory that you will never forget!"
Team Camp
This summer we will have our fourth Lady Techster Team Camp. We would love for you and your team to join us. We will have junior varsity and varsity divisions. The camp will be divided into divisions according to classification and competition level. Each team will have a minimum of eight players. Each team will be guaranteed 10 games. All games will be officiated. Each team will have its own coach. A coaches chalk talk will be held by Coach Barmore on one night. All team camp registrations will be conducted through your high school coach. There will be a $100 entry fee to register your team and a fee of $150 per player. Fee includes lodging, meals and a camper t-shirt (the fee for commuters will be $100 for each player on the team). The $100 entry fee and a non-refundable $50 deposit for each player must accompany the registration forms.
Position Camp
Last summer position play camp was a great success. We were very pleased with what we accomplished. This summer we will again offer two sessions. The camp focuses on each individual position: guard, forward and post. There is plenty of individual attention given to each camper from the Lady Techster coaching staff. A developing young player will not want to miss this opportunity. The camp is open to girls who will be in the 9th thru 12th grade only in the fall of 2001. The cost is $195 with $95 of that being a non-refundable deposit to accompany each registration form. The cost for commuters is $165.
Individual Camps
The individual camps are open to all girls entering the 6th grade thru the 12th grade in the fall of 2001. The camp is broken into age groups which allow campers to learn and participate against those their own age and ability. Enrollment is limited so send your registration form early. The morning sessions consist of mass drills, station work, camp offense and league games. In the afternoons each camper will receive defense instruction and play league games. The night sessions include camp offense and league games.
Various awards will be presented to the campers in each age group during individual camp. There will be an All-Star game in the highest division and league champions in all of the divisions. Each camper in individual camp will be presented a camp T-shirt, a Lady Techster basketball and a report card from their camp coach. Cost for this camp is $295 with $95 of that amount being a non-refundable deposit required with each registration form. The cost for commuters is $195.
Day Camp
The Lady Techsters Day Camp is open to girls who will be in the 3rd through 8th grades the fall of 2001. The campers will work out from 9 a.m. until noon. This camp will be held at the Thomas Assembly Center. Each camper will be presented a camp T-shirt and a Lady Techster basketball.
Outstanding Staff
Forty-five high school and college coaches will be on hand for each week of Individual Camp & Position Camp. We take great pride in these camps being one where learning takes place thanks to our quality coaching each participant receives.
Camp Brochures
Louisiana Tech's camp brochures will be available in early February and will include information on other benefits of the camp, including full-time athletic trainer, housing options and food services. The camp brochure will include an entry form with a medical waiver that will enable you to enroll in your choice of camp. The information will also be available via the Internet at www.latechsports.com on the Lady Techster site.
