RUSTON - Louisiana Tech relied on the inside game of Antonio Meeking and Zach Johnson to defeat Centenary 64-58 Saturday night at the Thomas Assembly Center.

Meeking, a 6-8 sophomore forward, led the Bulldogs (6-4) with 20 points and eight rebounds while Johnson recorded 10 points and three rebounds in 19 minutes of action.

"We knew we would have our hands full with the two big guys inside," said Centenary head coach Kevin Johnson. "Zach and Antonio were the difference in the game. We did enough things well to win but we could not handle those guys inside."

Meeking, who scored only eight points against Minnesota earlier this week, picked up his ninth double-digit point total out of ten games.

"We really challenged Antonio since the Minnesota game," said Louisiana Tech head coach Keith Richard. "I thought he played with a lot more aggressive body language. Thats all we ask of Antonio is to play with energy and to play with enthusiasm."

Centenary (2-7) led by as many as nine points in the first half, after shooting 50.0 percent from the field. The Gents went into the halftime with a 28-25 lead, holding the Bulldogs to only 37.5 percent in the first period.

Tech scored eight of the first 11 points to pull ahead early in the second half. The Bulldogs took a 40-38 lead at the 13:46 mark on a Marco Cole jump shot and stayed ahead the rest of the contest.

Also scoring in double-figures for the Bulldogs were Cole with 16 points and Gerrod Henderson with 12.

Centenarys Ronnie McCollum led all scorers with 29 points while Kevin Atamah chipped in 12 points.

The Bulldogs return to action on Dec. 21 when they host Texas Southern in a 7 p.m. contest at the Thomas Assembly Center.
