VICKSBURG, Miss. -- Louisiana Tech used an outstanding pitching performance by Nick Rath and pounded out 17 hits in a 15-9 victory over Mississippi Valley State in Vicksburg on Tuesday night. The win gives Louisiana Tech a three-game winning streak Tech moves to 16-15 on the season and returns to action Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. when the Bulldogs host Centenary.
Craig Montgomery led the Tech attack with five hits and scored four runs in five at bats. Tim Meadows extended his hitting streak with a three-run home run and double in two at bats. Meadows left the game after the double when the throw back from the outfield bounced and hit the senior in the mouth forcing him to leave the game. Louisiana Tech recorder 14 or more hits for the third time in four games.
The Bulldogs scored four run in the third and fourth innings to break open the game and defeat the Delta Devils. Nick Cauley also went 2 for 4 in the game to drive in three runs for Tech. Cauley also stole three bases for the Bulldogs in the victory Rath (2-1) went seven innings and struck out seven batters while allowing four earned runs.
Marcus Clapp pitched the final two innings for Tech and allowed three runs, all of them unearned. Dan Preaus and Darin Uptigrove both drove in two runs each for the Bulldogs.
