Logan Forsythe was selected Monday afternoon by the Atlanta Braves as the 397th pick in the 13th round of the MLB Draft.
He is the 13th Bulldog to get drafted since the arrival of head coach
Lane Burroughs in 2017, and the eighth to be picked in the 15th round or sooner during that span. With Forsythe's selection, he is the 83rd Bulldog to be selected in the Draft all-time in program history.
Forsythe, a native of D'Iberville, Mississippi, transferred to LA Tech after spending two seasons with limited action at Mississippi State. The hard-throwing reliever proved to be effective for the Bulldog pitching staff, leading the team with 71 strikeouts and finishing the season with a 1-1 record through 24 appearances including three starts.
The junior was the Braves' 14th player selected in the Draft and was one of 11 pitchers selected by the organization, which featured just two left-handed hurlers.
He is the first Bulldog to be drafted by Atlanta since Bob Brasher was picked in the 23rd round of the 1976 Draft and the third player ever in program history. The first Bulldog to be drafted by the Braves was George Stone in the fifth round of the 1966 Draft, who was also the program's first MLB Draft pick on record.
