RENO, Nevada - Amisha Carter scored a career-high 15 points to lead five Louisiana Tech players in double figures as the 11th ranked Lady Techsters downed Nevada 83-54 Thursday night at the Lawlor Events Center.

Carter hit six of nine field goals while grabbing seven rebounds to help Tech (11-2, 4-0) win its ninth straight game and improve to 4-0 all-time against the Wolfpack (7-8, 0-5).

Cheryl Ford registered her fifth straight double double and eighth of the year with 13 points and 11 rebounds while Trina Frierson added 12 points, Amber Obaze 10 points and Sultra Harding a career-high 10 points.

"These kids did a good job of focusing and not letting the long road trip yesterday affect them," said Tech head coach Kurt Budke. "We came out ready to play and really took the game to them. We've done a good job of being patient offensively and learning how to take home crowds out of the game early."

Nevada jumped to an early 6-3 lead before Tech went on a 20-2 run to grab a 23-8 lead with 9:13 remaining in the first half. The Lady Techster held the Wolfpack without a field goal for over 11 minutes at one point in the opening stanza and held a 38-18 halftime lead.

Nevada entered the game ranked No. 1 in the WAC in field goal percentage and three-point field goal percentage but the Wolfpack perimeter shooters were unable to find open looks against the aggressive Tech man to man defense.

"I thought Amber and Erica (Smith) did an excellent job against their shooters," Budke said. "In fact all of our players executed our defensive game plan to perfection. I thought the first 30 minutes of this game was about as good as we can play defensively."

The Wolfpack hit only 33 percent (21-63) of their field goals on the night, including only 4 of 12 from beyond the arc. Tech hit a season-high 56 percent (32-57) of its shots while also outrebounding Nevada 48-28.

April Bankston led Nevada with 14 points, while Ashley Bastian scored 12 and Katie Smith added 10.

Tech improved to 91-11 all-time in regular season road conference games. The Lady Techsters will play Fresno State Saturday at 4 p.m.
