Louisiana Tech sophomore Paul Millsap was named the Louisiana Sports Writers Association men's Basketball Player of the Week on Wednesday after leading the Bulldogs to a split in road games against Jackson State and Texas-San Antonio.

Tech defeated Jackson State 75-61 on Dec. 7 before falling 79-71 at Texas-San Antonio on Dec. 12.

Millsap averaged 24 points, 10 rebounds, one assist, two steals and one block in the two games as he totaled 18 points, seven rebounds and one block against JSU before following up with 30 points, 13 rebounds, two assists, four steals and a block at UTSA.

It was the first award this season for Millsap, who last year was a two-time LSWA Player of the Week, WAC Player of the Week, WAC Freshman of the Year and NCAA rebounding champion.

Northwestern State's Dee Dee Favors picked up LSWA Women's Player of the Week accoloades after scoring 28 points and adding 13 rebounds in a win over Arkansas-Monticello.
