Boxscore

LAKE CHARLES, La. - Sophomore Alison White's one-out, run scoring single in the top of the seventh inning lifted Louisiana Tech to a 2-1 win over McNeese State Tuesday night at Cowgirl Diamond.

The two squads entered the seventh inning tied 1-1, before Tech senior Jennifer LaRussa led the inning off with a walk. After a sacrifice by Ashley Aycock advanced pinch runner Aimee Coleman to second, White singleds, scoring Coleman with the go-ahead run.

Tech (5-5) proceeded to load the bases following White's single but couldn't manage to score an insurance run, giving McNeese State (2-7) a chance in the bottom of the seventh. With one out, the Cowgirls put runners on first and second but Lady Techster senior pitcher Marla Pinkston retired the final two batters to preserve the win.

McNeese State jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning when it scored an unearned run on a wild pitch by Tech starting pitcher Kristin Blodgette. Pinkston came on in relief for the Techsters in the third and retired the final two batters with the bases loaded.

Tech tied the contest in the top of the fifth inning. Aycock led the inning off being hit by a pitch, Nikki Ducey came on to pinch run and advanced to second on a sacrifice by White. McNeese appeared to have gotten out of the inning but Ducey scored the tying run on a passed ball on strike three of what should have been the third and final out of the inning.

Pinkston (3-4) picked up the win for the Techsters, hurling 4.2 innings in relief while allowing only three hits and one walk. Tech recorded only three hits, one each by Brittany Stanley, White and Casey Reiff.

Tech returns to action this weekend at the LSU Tournament.
