Five Bulldogs Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

LA Tech Has Five Players Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors for Third Straight Season

RUSTON – Louisiana Tech softball had five players named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, announced by the organization on Tuesday afternoon.

Jina Baffuto, Rosalie Dufresne, Allie Floyd, Allie Furr and Laney Johnson all recorded a 3.5 GPA or higher while making significant contributions on the field to earn a spot on the list. This marks the third consecutive season that the Bulldogs have had five players earn CSC Academic All-District Honors.

The 2026 Academic All-District® Softball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must have competed in 90 percent or started in at least 66 percent of the institution's contests, or - for pitchers - pitched at least 35 innings or made 17 appearances, must be at least a sophomore in academic and athletic standing and must carry at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale).

Baffuto caps her four-year LA Tech career with CSC Academic All-District honors after graduating with a bachelor's degree in speech pathology and a 3.78 GPA this past weekend. The Bossier City native played in all 56 games while making 53 starts at second base. She recorded a career-high 23 hits, drove in 15 runs, scored 14 and hit two home runs.

Baffuto was flawless defensively, recording 119 putouts and 62 assists at second base while committing just three errors.

Dufresne, a first-year junior college transfer, earned CSC Academic All-District honors while maintaining a 4.0 GPA in kinesiology and health sciences. The Quebec, Canada, native played in 45 games with 41 starts. She recorded 26 hits, 15 RBI, five doubles, one home run and nine runs scored. Behind the plate, Dufresne caught four runners stealing and committed just one error.

This marks Floyd's third consecutive selection to the CSC Academic All-District Team. A fourth-year senior, Floyd earned her bachelor's degree in biology in the fall of 2025 and is pursuing her MBA while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. She also was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team.

On the field, the Texas native led the Bulldogs in wins (11), innings pitched (146.0), strikeouts (106), complete games (nine) and shutouts (two) during the 2026 season.

Furr, a 2026 Conference USA All-Academic selection, earned CSC Academic All-District honors for the first time in her career. The Ruston native carries a 3.98 GPA in animal science.

Furr played in 55 games with 54 starts and led the Bulldogs with 65 hits this season. She was one of eight players in the league to record 60 or more hits. The redshirt sophomore scored 29 runs, drove in 18 and led the team with 18 multi-hit games.

Johnson, a sophomore pitcher, rounds out Tech's five CSC Academic All-District selections. The Stonewall native carries a 3.96 GPA in biology. Johnson appeared in 29 games with 15 starts in the circle. She won eight games and pitched 87.2 innings while striking out 30 batters. Her two shutouts were the second-most on the team.
