RUSTON - Louisiana Tech freshman infielder Jessica Elson was named the Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week following her performance in the Mississippi State Bulldog Round Robin Classic this past weekend.

Elson, who started five of the six games during the tournament and helped the Lady Techsters to a 4-2 record, was named to the all-tournament team after batting .500 with six runs scored and six runs batted in.

The Plano, Texas, native recorded 10 hits in 20 at bats while also leading the team in total bases with 11. Elson recorded a career-high three hits in a 30-0 win over Jackson State and a 7-0 win over Bradley while also driving in a career-high three runs in a 12-4 win over Jackson State.

Tulsa pitcher Lindsey Dyer was named the WAC Pitcher of the Week.
