RUSTON ? Louisiana Tech?s student-athletes founds a way to give back more to the community than just athletic entertainment.

During the basketball doubleheader on Dec. 13th, Tech student-athletes collected donations during halftime of both games to give to the Salvation Army.

Thanks to the generosity of those in attendance, $508.69 was raised through the effort of the Tech student-athletes and was presented to the local Salvation Army.

Assistant Athletic Director for Academics Stacy Gilbert said it was a good opportunity for student-athletes to help those in need during the holiday season.

?During times such as these, it?s important for us to realize that there are others less fortunate than us,? Gilbert said. ?We are always looking for ways to give back to the Ruston community.?

In October, the Tech student-athletes held a Halloween Carnival and raised money for victims of Hurricane Katrina.
