Techsters Split at Southeastern Tournament

HAMMOND, La. ? Louisiana Tech banged out 12 hits to down Southern 11-2 Friday in the first game of the Southeastern Louisiana Tournament before falling 2-0 to Troy State in the evening contest.
Head coach Sarah Dawson?s team belted four two-run home runs on the day, including shots by Rochelle Sandberg, Regan Clark, Ashley Cameron and Christine Echols, while scoring a season-high 11 runs.
Tech scored two runs in the top of the second inning as Carly White put the Techsters on the scoreboard with a bases-loaded single.
After adding a single run in the third, Tech exploded for four more in the fourth, two coming on a two-run shot by Echols and two more on a two-run home run by Sandberg.
Tech added four more runs in the sixth inning with two coming via a home run by Cameron and two more on a homer by Clark. Senior Lindsey Meadows led the offensive attack with four hits while Brittany Stanley added two hits.
Junior pitcher Kristin Rupp picked up the win, allowing only five hits and two runs in six innings of action.
The Tech bats went silent in the second game of the day as Troy State pitcher Jocelyn McCallum pitched a complete-game no-hitter in the 2-0 win.
Troy State scored the only two runs of the game in the third inning. Meadows took the hard-luck loss for the Techsters, allowing only two runs ? one earned ? on five hits while striking out eight batters.
