Boxscore I Boxscore II
HAMMOND, La. ? Sophomore outfielder Ashley Cameron had a career day Saturday leading Louisiana Tech to three wins at the Southeastern Louisiana Tournament at North Oak Park in Hammond.
Cameron led Tech to wins over Jackson State (8-0), Southeastern Louisiana (8-1) and Samford (2-0), helping the Techsters improve to 5-6 on the season.
Tech was scheduled to play on two games on Saturday while finishing the tournament on Sunday but inclement weather forecasts for Sunday forced the completion of the tournament in two days.
Cameron was 3-for-4 with a double and two home runs while driving in four runs in Tech?s win over Jackson State Saturday. Jessica Elson and Brittany Welch each added two hits in the win while Brittany Stanley drove in two runs.
Freshman pitcher Leslie Aycock picked up her second win of the year, pitching a complete game three hit shutout while striking out a career-high eight batters.
In the second game of the afternoon, Cameron was 3-for-4 with two more RBI while Welch ripped a bases clearing double as Tech handed Southeastern Louisiana its first loss of the year.
Regan Clark registered a career-high four hits in the win while Stanley and Rochelle Sandberg each added two hits.
Tech led 3-1 heading into the top of the seventh inning thanks to a two-run home run by Cameron in a three-run first inning. The Lady Techsters then scored five insurance runs, three coming via Welch?s double, to pull away for the win.
Senior Lindsey Meadows picked up her first win of the season, hurling seven innings while allowing only six hits and one earned run and striking out nine.
Head coach Sarah Dawson?s squad finished the day with a 2-0 win over Samford. Meadows pitched a complete game no-hitter for the win. Meadows had a perfect game heading into the seventh inning before a leadoff walk ended the threat.
Meadows registered nine strikeouts in the win.
Tech scored single runs in the first and fifth innings. After Stanley opened the inning with a single and a stolen base, she scored on Clark?s one-out single.
Ashley Palma led the fifth inning off for Tech with a double. Pinch runner Sandy Carroll scored the second run of the game thanks to a fielding error by Samford.
Amber Miles led Tech in the win with two hits and two stolen bases.
