WACO, Texas - Louisiana Tech managed only three hits and allowed two costly unearned runs as the Lady Techsters fell 3-2 Sunday morning to Birmingham Southern in the last game of the Compass Bank Invitational.

Tech (8-11) fell behind 3-0 in the top of the second inning as Birmingham Southern (6-6) scored the three runs on only two hits, all three coming with two outs. Dawn Treadwell singled and then Jennifer Wellborn was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning for BSC.

Two outs later, Lacey Barth singled to drive home a run but a throwing error by Tech allowed both Katherine Katz - who had reached on a fielder's choice - and Barth to score, making the score 3-0.

Tech answered with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Ashley Cameron led off with a double. Two outs later, Christine Echols singled to drive home Cameron and then scored on the play thanks to a throwing error by the Birmingham Southern catcher.

Head coach Sarah Dawson's team never mounted a scoring threat in the final three frames as Tech fell for the third straight game.
