STARKVILLE, Miss. - Ashley Cameron knocked in two runs, including the game-winner in the eighth inning, to lead Louisiana Tech to a 4-3 win over Mississippi Valley State Friday in the first game of the Bulldog Round Robin Classic.

Head coach Sarah Dawson's team dropped the second game of the day 9-0 to Mississippi State.

In game No. 1, Tech trailed 1-0 heading into the top of the seventh inning when Cameron delivered a pinch hit double down the left field line, scoring Sandy Carroll from first base.

After recording only two hits in the first six innings of the game, the Lady Techsters registered four hits in the seventh but were unable to take the lead as two players were thrown out at home trying to score.

Louisiana Tech freshman pitcher Leslie Aycock allowed a leadoff double to start the bottom of the seventh before getting out of the jam, sending the game into extra frames.

In the top of the eighth, Tech scored three runs on three hits and one Mississippi Valley State error to take a 4-1 lead. Freshman Regan Clark gave Tech a 1-0 lead with an RBI single, scoring Brittany Stanley. After pinch runner Christine Echols scored on an error, Cameron delivered an RBI single to right field, scoring freshman Lianne Albert.

Senior pitcher Lindsey Meadows worked the eighth inning for the Techsters, allowing a pair of two-out runs before retiring the final Mississippi Valley State batter with her third strike out of the frame.

Aycock picked up her first collegiate win for Tech, allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out two in two innings of relief work. Meadows picked up her first save of the season, the sixth of her Techster career.

Clark and Albert joined Cameron with two hits each on the morning.

Junior pitcher Kristin Rupp started the game for Tech and worked five innings while allowing only three hits, two walks and one unearned run.

Meadows picked up the loss against the Bulldogs, pitching 4.2 innings while allowing 12 hits, nine runs - seven earned - and no walks. The Lady Techsters didn't register a hit against State pitcher Kelli Miller.
