Tech Softball Wins Two More at Tourney

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ? For the second straight day, Louisiana Tech swept a pair of contests defeating Jackson State 11-1 and Birmingham Southern 4-3 at the Birmingham Southern Tournament.
Tech (13-14) scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning to post a come from behind win over Birmingham Southern. Trailing 3-1 heading into the frame, Amber Miles and Regan Clark led the inning off with back to back singles. Christine Echols was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Miles scored on an RBI ground out by Jessica Elson to make the score 3-2. Senior Brittany Stanley then followed with a two-run triple to give Tech a 4-3 lead entering the bottom half of the frame.
Lindsey Meadows retired Birmingham Southern in order to pick up the victory. Meadows (9-9) allowed three earned runs ? all coming on a fifth-inning home run ? on five hits and one walk while striking out four batters.
Clark led Tech at the plate with three hits while Ashley Cameron registered her sixth home run of the season for the Techsters.
Tech scored 11 runs against Jackson State on 12 hits in a five inning affair that was called due to the mercy rule. Tech scored once in the first, three in the second, one in the fourth and six in the fifth to win its third straight game of the tourney.
Sophomore Carly White led Tech?s offensive attack going a perfect 3-for-3 from the plate while driving in a career-high four runs on a fifth-inning grand slam. Echols, Miles and Cameron each added two hits while Cameron and Echols each drove home two runs.
Leslie Aycock (3-1) picked up the win for Tech, issuing only one walk in four innings of work. Kristin Rupp came on to pitch the final inning, allowing a solo home run, the only hit of the game for Jackson State.
