Tech Splits at Missouri Tournament

Columbia, Missouri ? Junior Kristin Rupp struck out a career-high 15 batters to lead Louisiana Tech to a 3-0 win over Missouri-Kansas City in the first game of a two Saturday at the Missouri Invitational played at University Field.
Top 25 Missouri (24-2) downed Tech 11-1 in the second contest of the day.
Rupp (2-4) allowed only three hits and one walk in the complete game shutout win over UMKC (4-18) while freshman Regan Clark supplied the majority of run support for the Techsters.
Tech (15-17) took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning on a run-scoring hit by freshman second baseman Rochelle Sandberg, which plated senior Amber Miles who singled and stole second base.
In the bottom of the third inning, sophomore Carly White walked and then scored on Clark?s two-run home run, her third of the season, giving Tech a 3-0 lead.
Rupp prevented UMKC from ever mounting a serious threat as the Techsters won. Clark, Sandberg and Jessica Elson led Tech offensively with two hits each.
In the second game of the day, Tech jumped out to a 1-0 lead before Missouri scored 10 runs on 11 hits in the top of the third inning to down the Techsters 11-1 in five innings.
Lindsey Meadows (10-12) picked up the loss for Tech, allowing eight earned run on nine hits in 2.1 innings of work. Brittany Welch and Leah Beasley registered Tech?s only two hits of the game.
