HONOLULU, Hawaii - Louisiana Tech dropped a 7-1 decision to Hawaii late Friday night in Western Athletic Conference softball action at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Hawaii pitcher Melissa Coogan (14-9) picked up the win with an impressive performance, allowing only one earned run on six hits and one walk while striking out six in the complete game victory.

Tech (18-26, 2-5 WAC) scored its lone run of the contest in the top of the sixth inning. Rochelle Sandberg led off the frame with a double to center before Regan Clark drove her home with an RBI double to right center.

Hawaii scored two runs in the first and one more in the second to take a 3-0 lead through two innings before adding one more in the fourth and three in the sixth as the Rainbow Wahine (27-20, 8-5 WAC) took the first game of the three-game series.

Sandberg led Tech with two hits while Amber Miles, Clark, Brittany Welch and Jessica Elson each added one hit.

Lindsey Meadows (13-22) took the loss, allowing seven runs - six earned - on 12 hits and four walks in six innings of work.
