RUSTON ? Three solo home runs and a solid pitching performance by Jordan McPherson led Nevada to a 5-1 win over Louisiana Tech Saturday at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.

Tech (18-29, 2-4 WAC) collected six hits on the day but was only able to score a lone run in the bottom of the fourth inning as Nevada took two of three games in the important early Western Athletic Conference season series.

Nevada (15-21, 4-2 WAC) struck for two runs in the top of the first inning off of Tech starter Lesley Aycock, one coming on a leadoff home run by Cindy Elkins over the centerfield wall.

The Wolf Pack upped the advantage to 3-0 in the top of the second inning on a solo home run by second baseman Kristin Stith, her second of the three-game series.

The Lady Techsters mounted their best offensive attack in the bottom of the fourth inning but were only able to scratch for a single run, that coming via a two-out double by sophomore Christine Echols which scored Brittany Welch.

Ashley Palma followed with a single up the middle to put runners on first and third with two outs but freshman Sandy Carroll grounded out to the pitcher to end the Tech threat.

Nevada added two more runs in the top of the sixth inning ? one via a solo home run by catcher Lindsey Hall ? and McPherson closed the door on Tech the final two innings.

Aycock (3-5) picked up the loss for Tech, allowing three earned runs on four hits and one walk in two innings of work. Lindsey Meadows came on in relief and allowed two runs on six hits in five innings while striking out six.

McPherson (7-6) picked up her second win of the series, allowing only the one earned run on six hits and three walks in the complete-game victory.

Regan Clark registered two hits to lead the Tech offensive attack.
