Techsters Fall at Tulsa Despite Record Day
Boxscore
TULSA, Okla. - Ashley Cameron set a new Louisiana Tech single season home run record with a solo shot in the second inning but Tulsa scored the final two runs of the game to down the Lady Techsters 2-1 Friday night.
Cameron hit her 10th home run of the year, a solo shot leading off the top of the second inning over the left field wall to give Tech (18-44, 2-11 WAC) an early 1-0 lead. With the home run, Cameron broke the Tech record of nine home runs set by Liz Tartavoulle in 1994 and Erica St. Romain in 1998.
Tulsa (26-30, 6-7 WAC) tied the game up on an two-out RBI single by Angela Osbon in the bottom half of the second inning. The game remained tied at 1-1 until Lindsey Dyer doubled home the go-ahead run with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, giving the Golden Hurricane a 2-1 advantage.
Tech managed to get a runner on base in the top of the seventh before Regan Clark hit into a game-ending double play.
Brittany Stanley, Rochelle Sandberg and Lindsey Meadows led the Tech offensive attack with two hits each while Cameron drove home the only run of the contest.
Stanley's fifth inning single to left field marked her 200th career hit as a Lady Techster as the senior from Sulphur, La. joined an elite club of only Chris Sherman (233 hits from 1986-89) and Amber Miles (200 hits from 2002 to present) to reach the plateau.
Meadows (13-25) picked up the loss for Tech despite allowing only two earned runs on eight hits in six innings of action.
Julie Fennell (9-13) earned the win, allowing only the one earned run on eight hits in seven innings of work.
The two teams will wrap the three-game series up with a 4 p.m. doubleheader Saturday.
