RUSTON ? The University of Hawaii finished off a three-game Western Athletic Conference sweep of Louisiana Tech Sunday with an 8-1 victory at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.

Hawaii (17-13, 3-0 WAC) scored its eight runs on 11 hits and six Louisiana Tech errors as the Rainbow Wahine improved to 15-3 all-time against the Lady Techsters.

?I think we were the least focused during this game than we were in all three this weekend,? said head coach Sarah Dawson. ?At the plate, we didn?t produce anything, and we didn?t make any adjustments. We have to be able to put up five or six runs a game, and can?t expect to win with one or two runs.?

Hawaii wasted little time in taking the lead scoring once in the first, three times in the second and two more in the third to grab a commanding 6-0 advantage.

Techster starting pitcher Kristin Rupp (0-3) picked up the loss, allowing four runs ? three earned ? on five hits in 2.0 innings of work. Freshman Krissi Oliver came on in relief and allowed four runs ? two earned ? on six hits in five innings of work.

Tech (7-17, 0-3 WAC) scored its lone run in the bottom of the third inning as Rochelle Sandberg singled home Emma Barnes who led the frame off with a single.

Dawson didn?t make any excuses for her team?s defensive troubles in the game.

?We had some new people in different positions due to injuries over the weekend, but we made errors on some routine plays,? Dawson said. ?I think that speaks to our lack of focus.?

Barnes, Danielle Sheridan, Sandberg and Sandy Carroll led Tech offensively with one hit each while Hawaii was led by Kaulana Gould with three hits and Clare Warwick and Tyleen Tausaga with two hits each.

Tech embarks on a 12-day road trip Wednesday when the Lady Techsters travel to Texas-Arlington for a 4 p.m. doubleheader followed by a WAC three-game series at New Mexico State.

?We learned a lot this weekend,? Dawson said. ?It was an eye-opening experience for us being such a young team. They learned what conference is all about, and they learned every game is important.?
