Techsters Fall at New Mexico State

LAS CRUCES, N.M. ? New Mexico State scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to break open a tight game as the Aggies cruised to a 10-2 win over Louisiana Tech Friday night at NMSU Softball Complex.
Tied at 1-1 entering the bottom of the fourth inning, the Aggies (19-13, 2-2 WAC) scored six runs on five hits and one Tech error off Lady Techster freshman Krissi Oliver.
After Tech (8-19, 0-4 WAC) added a run in the top of the fifth inning to make it 8-2 New Mexico State, the Aggies scored three runs in the bottom of the frame as the game was called due to the eight-run rule.
Oliver (2-8) was tagged with the loss, allowing 10 runs ? eight earned ? on 11 hits in 4.0 innings of work.
New Mexico State pitcher Sarah Seagraves (11-7) picked up the victory, allowing only two earned runs while scattering seven hits in the complete game victory. Seagraves struck out seven.
After New Mexico State jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, Tech tied the game at 1-1 in the top of the third inning. Freshman Emma Barnes led the inning off with a single and then stole second base before sophomore Rochelle Sandberg doubled her home.
Tech?s other run came in the fifth as Barnes singled and then scored on an RBI double by Sandberg, who led Tech with three hits in three plate appearances.
Christine Echols and Sandy Carroll each added on hit for Tech.
New Mexico State was led offensively by Kristi Randall, Mailei Hilva, Stacy Lien and Stephanie Herrera with two hits each.
The two teams will complete the three-game weekend series with a Saturday doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. CST.
