Boxscore I Boxscore II
RUSTON ? Nicholls State used two impressive pitching performances to down Louisiana Tech 6-1 and 14-2 Tuesday afternoon in a softball doubleheader at the Lady Techsters Softball Complex.
?We didn?t execute any part of our (offensive) game today,? said Tech head coach Sarah Dawson. ?The runs we scored they gave to us.?
In game one, Nicholls State hurler Allison May pitched a complete-game five hitter while allowing only one unearned run as the Lady Colonels defeated Tech 6-1.
Nicholls State scored two runs in the third, three in the fifth and one more in the seventh while the Lady Techsters scored their only run in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Danielle Sheridan led Tech with two hits while Emma Barnes, Ashley Cameron and Dre Gardner each added one hit.
Krissi Oliver (7-9) was tagged with the loss, allowing 11 hits and six earned runs in 7.0 innings of work. The loss snapped Oliver?s personal five-game winning streak and Tech?s four-game victory streak.
In game two, Tech jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning scoring runs off of Nicholls State starter Kristilen Ensminger thanks to a pair of wild pitches.
However, Nicholls State answered with seven runs in the second, one in the third, two in the fourth and four more in the fifth while banging out 19 hits.
Kristin Rupp (1-7) picked up the loss, allowing 14 runs ? 12 earned ? on 19 hits in 5.0 innings of work. Ensminger (6-7) picked up the victory, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk in 5.0 innings of action.
Rochelle Sandberg and Gardner recorded Tech?s only hits in the second game.
?There?s no different game plan or approach,? Dawson said. ?Sometimes we show up and sometimes we don?t. We have to correct this.?
The Lady Techsters return to action Wednesday with a 4 p.m. doubleheader against Grambling State at the Lady Techsters Softball Complex.
