Louisiana Tech bowling head coach Shawn Jackson announced the signing of Allen High School Bowling Club standout Stephanie Hinz today.

Hinz will become the first southpaw ever on Tech's bowling squad, and Jackson said her strong hand along with other finely-tuned mechanics may earn Hinz much playing time as a freshman.

"I think she'll come in and have a big, immediate impact on us next year," Jackson said. "She's carrying an average of more than 170 in high school, and with the addition of a heavier ball, we hope to have her bowling 185-190 next season."

Hinz held the fourth-highest average in the North Dallas District this season at 178, and her best single-game career total is 299 - one pin behind a perfect score of 300. Hinz carried the perfect game through 11 frames, but one pin failed to fall in her last attempt.

However, Hinz will have plenty of chances to chase the legendary perfect game when she becomes part of the Lady Techster bowling team next year.
