RUSTON ? Louisiana Tech head coach Chris Long announced Wednesday that freshman Kara Jones has joined the team following the completion of Jones? rookie season with the Lady Techster volleyball team.

Jones is a 6-foot-4-inch forward who signed with Louisiana Tech on a volleyball scholarship following an impressive prep career at Moody High School in Texas.

?Kara is joining our team and will head to Memphis with us for the tournament this weekend,? Long said. ?She expressed a strong desire to play basketball on the collegiate level. She is a solid 6-foot-4 and will give us some added depth in the post.

?She is going to be rusty and will need to get into basketball shape. She will have her first practice with the team Thursday.?

Jones started 29 of the 30 matches for the Lady Techster volleyball team this fall and ranked third on the team in kills and second in blocks.

During her prep career at Moody, Jones was a four-time first team all-district selection who averaged over 20 points a game during her senior season.
