Tech Softballers Fall to McNeese State
Boxscore
MONROE ? Louisiana Tech continued its roller coaster ways as the Lady Techsters dropped an 8-3 decision to McNeese State Saturday evening in the single elimination portion of the Mardi Gras Classic hosted by UL-Monroe.
Tech (7-3), which won its first game of the day 7-4 over Mississippi Valley State, lost to a McNeese State squad that it had defeated 4-0 in Friday?s round robin competition.
The Lady Techsters jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as Ashley Cameron singled home Danielle Sandberg in the bottom of the first inning.
However, that lead was short-lived as McNeese State scored twice in the second, fourth and fifth innings while adding single runs in the third and seventh frames.
Trailing 7-1, Tech plated two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on four hits as Carly White doubled home one run; however, that was as close as the Techsters could get.
Krissi Oliver (4-1) picked up her first loss of the season for Tech, allowing six runs ? three earned ? on nine hits and one walk in four innings of work. Courtney Avery came on in relief and allowed two earned runs on two hits in 3.0 innings of action while striking out four.
Tech will play in the consolation game of the tournament against Mississippi Valley State Sunday at 11 a.m.
