Boxscore I Boxscore II

BATON ROUGE, La. ? Five Louisiana Tech errors led to three unearned runs in a 5-4 loss to Troy in the Lady Techsters second game of the Easton Purple and Gold Challenge Friday at Tiger Park.

Tech (9-6) lost to No. 6 ranked LSU 8-0 in five innings in the first game of the day for the team.

The Lady Techsters fell behind the undefeated Troy team 4-1 thanks to numerous miscues by the Tech infielders and a come-from-behind attempt fell just short.

Tech took an early 1-0 lead over Troy on an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning before the Trojans (8-0) answered with a pair of unearned runs in the top of the second inning.

Single runs in the tops of the fourth and fifth innings made the score 4-1 Troy before the Lady Techsters began mounting their comeback.

Junior Regan Clark made the score 4-3 with a two-run home run to left field in the bottom of the fifth inning. However, Troy answered with an unearned run in the top of the sixth inning upping the Trojans advantage to 5-3.

Emma Barnes doubled down the left field line with two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, driving home Amberly Waits from first base. However, Troy?s pitchers than retired the next four Lady Techster batters in order to preserve the victory.

Carly White led Tech with two hits while Clark, Barnes, Danielle Sheridan and Summer Young each registered one hit.

Krissi Oliver (5-4) picked up the loss despite allowing just two earned runs on seven hits over seven innings of work.

In the first game of the day, LSU blanked the Lady Techsters 8-0 in five innings as Tiger pitcher Dani Hofer limited Tech to only one hit, a Sheridan infield single in the first inning. Hofer struck out 11 Tech batters in the victory.

Oliver picked up the loss for Tech, allowing seven runs ? only four earned ? on six hits in 3.0 innings of action.

Tech returns to action Saturday with a 9 a.m. contest against Southern Miss and a 3:45 p.m. contest against Troy.
