#4 Alabama Sweeps Tech Softball

TUSCALOOSA ? Fourth-ranked Alabama (33-3) swept a softball doubleheader from Louisiana Tech (16-19) 12-4 and 15-0 Tuesday at the Alabama Softball Complex.
The contests were the fourth and fifth straight road games in five days against Top 25 teams for Tech as the Lady Techsters were swept against Hawaii this past weekend.
In Tuesday?s first game, Tech stayed close with the Crimson Tide early in the game scoring three runs in the top of the third inning to cut the Alabama advantage to 4-3.
Tech scored on RBI singles by Emma Barnes and Amberly Waits and an RBI groundout by Rochelle Sandberg.
However, Alabama score two times in the bottom of the third to up its lead to 6-3 before Ashley Cameron smashed her seventh home run of the season leading off the fourth to cut the deficit to 6-4.
The Crimson Tide added five in the fourth and one more in the sixth to end the game.
Barnes, Waits, Cameron and Danielle Sheridan each registered hits for Tech in the loss.
Krissi Oliver (11-13) picked up the loss, allowing 11 runs ? nine earned ? on 11 hits and two walks in 3.2 innings of action.
In the second game of the doubleheader, Tech managed only one hit as Barnes recorded a single for the Lady Techsters.
Alabama scored 15 runs on 10 hits, seven walks and three Tech errors.
Kylie Bassett (1-1) picked up the loss for Tech, allowing 10 runs ? seven earned ? on four hits and five walks in 1.0 innings of action.
Tech returns home for an important Western Athletic Conference series against New Mexico State with a single game Friday at 6 p.m. and a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m.
