RUSTON ? Louisiana Tech bounced back from a disappointing 2-0 loss in game No. 1 to down New Mexico State 3-0 and split a softball doubleheader at the Lady Techster Softball Complex Friday night.

Sophomore pitcher Krissi Oliver (12-14) was impressive in both games for Tech (17-20, 1-4 WAC) although she saved her best stuff for the second game of the day. The Glendale, Arizona, native allowed only three hits and no walks while striking out five in the complete-game shutout of the Aggies (22-16, 4-1 WAC).

?Krissi has really pitched well in four WAC outings so far,? said Tech head coach Sarah Dawson. ?She was great tonight even without having all of her pitches working.?

Aggie sophomore hurler Kim Watson ? who held Tech to only one infield hit in the first game of the day ? was cruising in game two until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Lady Techsters mounted their one legitimate offensive threat of the night.

With two outs, Ashley Cameron doubled down the left field line. Regan Clark followed with a four-pitch walk before Christine Echols stepped to the plate and launched her fourth home run of the year ? a three run shot ? over the left field wall.

?They pitched around Regan to get to Christine and she delivered,? Dawson said. ?We got good pitching and a timely hit and that?s how you win games.?

Emma Barnes led Tech with two hits while Echols, Cameron, Summer Young and Carly White each added one hit.

In the first game of the day, Watson was simply too much for Tech, striking out 11 while giving up only one hit and four walks. Watson took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before Cameron broke it up with an infield single that fell harmlessly between the pitchers mound and first base.

New Mexico State scored one run in the second and one more in the third off Oliver, who gave up only one hit after the third inning to the Aggies.

The two teams return to the diamond Saturday at noon for a single game.
